Al Barrak Logistics has opened its new facility in Jebel Ali, close to the World’s largest cargo airport free zone. The company already has several offices throughout the UAE, along with branches in India and Canada, and sees this site as a key development in providing a complete worldwide logistics service to its clients.

The new facility has been built over an area of 20,000 sq metres and includes over 12,000 pallet spaces offering both ambient and temperature controlled storage. In addition to warehousing the company provides services including re-packing, labelling, consolidation, road transport, sea and air freight management. ATMS’ Stock Track PLUS (STP) warehouse management system was chosen to support this operation because it provided the flexibility to accurately control fast moving stock whilst producing a full audit trail of all warehousing activities. The Charging Module enables detailed information to be recorded and presented to clients, whilst the Web Speed Module allows remote access to the system.

Mr. Manuel Theophilus, Logistics Manager said ‘STP was our preferred solution because we were looking for a system that was rich in functionality but intuitive to use. The operatives in the warehouse carry out all their daily activities using Psion Teklogix radio data terminals and became comfortable with them very quickly. We were also aware that STP is successfully operating in other ports and logistics operations with similar needs and clients to our own. ATMS were able to provide local support from their office in Dubai and on site training to help us get up and running.’

Another key criterion in the selection process was ATMS’ proven interface to Microsoft Dynamics’ Great Plains system. This link enabled the complete solution to be implemented in record time and provide major benefits within its first year of operation.
